Dear Tim,
I have recently read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling. During this book Hogwarts and Harry face history repeating itself. An unexpected visitor comes to warn Harry Potter not to go back to school. But why would harry miss a chance to leave his aunt, uncle, and cousin? So as Harry arrives at school, things start happening. Harry ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and comes face to face with You-Know-Who. Will Harry suffer the consequences of ignoring the visitor or will he barley make it out alive?
I thought this book was great! Especially because last time I read this book I was 7 or 8 and my dad was reading it to me while I was laying on my bed about to fall asleep. So after I re-read the book I decided to watch the movie. I had three thoughts throughout the movie: 1. They picked and excellent actor for the role of Gildory Lockhart, 2. the movie stayed rather close to the book it didn’t change to much except for a couple of scenes where taken out, and 3. they did a good job of making the special effects seem real. Do you agree?
I thought the author wrote this book exceptionally well because even though I knew the ending I could still feel the suspense but in a different way than most. During the book I got mad that I couldn’t just skip to the end! It was bugging me that everyone suspected Harry when it wasn’t him! I really loved how funny Rowling made Fred and George (Ron’s brothers). For instance when everyone was suspecting Harry, they took it as a joke because no one wanted to be near Harry so Fred and George would walk in front of him down the hallway and yell things like “Watch out everyone! Evil dark wizard coming through!” or even “Move aside the Heir of Slytherin needs to find a mudblood!” I also like the line from Ron about the unexpected visitor who has tried to get Harry to leave Hogwarts. The line is. “If Dobey doesn’t stop trying to save you he will kill you!”
I would rate this book a 10 because it was hilarious and Rowling always writes good books.
This book helped me make sense of the world because at first I thought it would be fun to be a wizard but if you think about it there is a lot you have to hide form the “muggles” and it would be stressful and time consuming. We are a lot better off the way we are now.
Sincerely,
Sara
